Prepping for a Brazilian Wax

Prior to wax

  • Please shower before your appointment (wet wipes work too!)

  • Hair must be a quarter of an inch long (about 2 weeks of hair growth) to adhere correctly to the wax.

  • DO NOT use any lotions or products on area to be waxed.

  • NO tanning before the wax, want all that glow to get removed?

  • Gently exfoliate the night before to prep the skin before your wax. Exfoliating removes dead skin build up around and in the follicle aiding in an easier and more thorough removal. Dry brushing works great OR using a gentle exfoliating scrub wash.

  • RELAX! Come to your appointment as relaxed as possible. The anticipation is usually worse than the actual event. Don’t listen to the waxing horror stories or watch waxing videos with screaming victims; it will only create unnecessary anxiety. This is your experience and we want it to be a pleasant one!

  • Take a deep breath. Once laying on the waxing table, taking a few deep breaths, this will help relax your muscles. Don’t worry—it really doesn’t hurt that much & we want you to come back, so we won’t do anything to traumatize you!

  • Know that it gets better. The first one will be the most uncomfortable, especially if you’ve been shaving. However, it doesn’t have to be the worst thing you’ve ever done. Most of the time, clients leave pleasantly relieved that the wax wasn’t nearly as bad as they expected. Every wax after the first one gets easier, especially since your hair will start to grow in finer as we weaken the follicle!

  • If you’re concerned about the potential for pain, take some ibuprofen 20 minutes before your appointment, to take the edge off.

  • Inform your Wax Specialist of any medications you are taking, such as antibiotics, Accutane, or topical creams such as Retin-A, which may not be compatible with waxing.

  • Wear comfortable cotton panties and loose clothing to avoid irritation.

It will be over before you know it. Having silky smooth hair free skin is so worth a few minutes of discomfort!

Post Care

  • Keep the waxed area clean, for 24 hours.

  • NO sexual activity, NO baths, NO saunas, NO hot tubs, NO beach, NO pools, NO tanning, NO exercise for 24 hours.

  • DO NOT run or work out after waxing as the friction will irritate the skin.

  • Moisturize with our Bush Balm Pubic Oil  after next shower, [it helps with ingrowns too!]

  • After 48 hours you may exfoliate, and continuously do so  2-3 times a week.

  • NO SHAVING, between appointments. Shaving irritates and chafes the skin and creates coarser, sharper hair.

As you start to wax monthly your hair will continue to grow in finer and thinner.

DO NOT shave in between appointments, it reverses the thinning process, and it will make your wax more painful next time.

Get on a waxing schedule of every 3-4 weeks for best results!
